Belgian Chocolate Truffles
The Belgian chocolate truffle is a fine chocolate candy in a spherical or rounded shape with a smooth ganach chocolate center. In Belgian truffles, the ganache is made of one part cream to two parts chocolate. A truffle is named for the European fungus of the same name, but only resembles the confection in shape. More typical flavor ingredients for truffles are nuts, fruits and liquors.
The Telluride truffle is an American made chocolate in the Belgian inspiration. The quality is very good, with competitive products being priced between seventy and one hundred dollars a pound. The cream used for the ganache filling is a very high quality organic Colorado cream. Only natural flavors and liquors are used, with all the types of preservatives and waxes found in other chocoalates being left out. These truffles come in a triangular box to honor the mountains nearby and come in the flavors of Grand Marnier, Jack Daniels whiskey, Chambord, Meyers rum, almond, Kahlua, and raspberry.
